The Best Cocktail Bars in Siem Reap: My Top 4 Favorite Bars

Pub Street in Siem Reap is a popular night time destination for locals and tourists. I checked it out and I personally wasn’t a big fan. I prefer an intimate bar to a loud and over priced club and lucky for me, Siem Reap has a lovely cocktail bar scene.

During my one month stay in Siem Reap, I was fortunate enough to have been blessed with a visit from two of my dear friends, Jake and Nina. If there is one thing about these two, you could drop them anywhere in the world and they will find the best cocktail bars. Below I’ll take you with me on a night out with my cocktail connoisseur friends, and share my top 4 favorite cocktail bars in Siem Reap!

1. Laundry Bar

We started our night out with a cocktail at Laundry Bar, a live music bar with a rustic aesthetic and a casual, chill vibe. You can expect delicious cocktails prepared by their welcoming local staff. It is located near the riverside, on the opposite side of the city center and Pub Street, making it removed from the hustle and bustle. I prefer this side of the river because it is much more low key and quaint with its intimate restaurants, cafes, and cocktail bars. All three of us started the night the only way we know how, with espresso martinis for a quick pick me up! They were delicious and just what we needed to get our night started.

2. Miss Wong’s Cocktail Bar  មីសវុង

For our second bar of the night, we stumbled over to Miss Wong’s Cocktail Bar, which you can find a few doors over from Laundry Bar. The scarlet red glow of the lounge is sure to draw you in from the sidewalks of Siem Reap. Miss Wong’s in a chic intimate setting, with a vintage Asian inspired interior design with lanterns, art work and comfortable velvet booths. We were greeted by a welcoming server, who was extremely knowledgeable about the menu offerings and ensured we had an amazing experience. Miss Wong’s is known for their Indochine Martini, made with vodka, ginger cognac and pineapple juice. I also tried out a moscow mule. They were both equally delicious and refreshing! In addition to cocktails, they also serve food, but unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try anything. Between its exquisite cocktails, beautiful interior, and friendly service, Miss Wong’s Cocktail Bar is the perfect place to relax and grab a cocktail with friends.

3. Asana Old Wooden House

Next we wandered over to the other side of the river to my personal favorite, Asana Old Wooden House, an intimate cocktail lounge that feels like stepping into a magical tree house. Asana is built within the remains of the last traditional home in the Old Market District, dating back to the 1960s. It can be found tucked away in the quieter alley ways of Pub Street, an escape from the crowded clubs and night life. The moody lighting, swinging hammocks, and upstairs hideaway makes it the perfect location for a date night or a night out with friends. The menu offers a variety of herbal cocktails, sangria, wine and digestives. I tried out the Kampot Martini, made with vodka, gin, dry vermouth, and Kampot pepper. This unique drink felt like a spicy ode to the pepper industry of Cambodia. Did you know that Kampot, Cambodia grows what many top chefs consider the best quality pepper in the world? You can learn more about the Cambodian pepper industry in my guide to Kampot. We also tasted the Khmer Cocktail Discovery Set, featuring four unique cocktails flavors that tasted to us like tamarind, ginger, bloody mary, and melon.

Asana also offers a herbal cocktail class where you can learn how to mix your own cocktails. The class is 90 minutes long, offered in English or Khmer, and costs $20.

4. Picasso Bar

We finished off the night at Picasso Bar, which also tucked away in the less busy side streets around Pub Street. This place has a very cozy and intimate indoor setting, with a horseshoe shaped bar, which makes it easy to chat with friends or meet new ones. Picasso Bar offers cocktails, beer, ciders, and a food menu featuring tapas. I finished off the evening with a strong but refreshing moscow mule, and classic cold Cambodian beers to finish.

Final Thoughts

If you’re anything like me and find yourself gravitating toward cozy conversation over crowded clubs, Siem Reap’s cocktail scene is full of hidden gems. Beyond the neon lights and chaos of Pub Street, there’s a quieter, more intimate side of the city with creative craft cocktails in beautiful spaces full of charm, history, personality.

Whether you’re sipping espresso martinis beside the river at Laundry Bar, soaking in the vintage glamour of Miss Wong’s Cocktail Bar, relaxing in the magical treehouse atmosphere of Asana Old Wooden House Cocktail Bar, or ending the night with friends at the cozy Picasso Bar, each spot offers something unique and memorable. So if you’re visiting Siem Reap and looking for a more laid-back nightlife experience, skip the clubs and explore these cocktail bars instead. You just might find your new favorite hidden corner of Cambodia.
